What is ExpertusONE?
It's a cloud-based dynamic learning platform that unifies all learning and knowledge resources, supports continuous learning and easily adapts to your different users' needs.
How can dynamic learning help our company?
ExpertusONE is your hub for a dynamic learning ecosystem, enabling workforce, partner and customer communities to quickly find, use and share the learning and knowledge resources they need. It supports them with global, 24x7 access to a broad range of learning, collaboration and knowledge tools via a highly-intuitive, personalized environment.
How does ExpertusONE differ from a portal?
Most portals are only static web "front doors" with a collection of links to other resources or systems. But ExpertusONE provides a complete, unified, continuous and adaptive learning and information access environment within a highly dynamic and personalized portal interface.
I recall an Expertus product called SmartPortal™. How does ExpertusONE differ?
SmartPortal was a web-services platform that integrated portal interfaces with legacy learning systems for improved user experience and functionality. It has become the interface component of ExpertusONE. In other words, customers can still enjoy the elegance of a SmartPortal interface – while enjoying the more significant benefits of a dynamic learning platform as its underlying engine.
You call ExpertusONE a platform. Does that mean it's an LMS?
ExpertusONE is an elegantly architected LMS – and much more. It's actually a robust dynamic learning platform that supports formal and informal learning, social knowledge sharing and enterprise collaboration.
If we already have an LMS, how can ExpertusONE help us?
LMSs focus on formal learning. But only 20% of enterprise learning happens in formal scenarios. ExpertusONE can work seamlessly with your existing LMS to address 100% of learning – formal, informal, collaborative and prescriptive.
Does ExpertusONE work with Workday?
ExpertusONE is a cloud-based, dynamic learning platform that seamlessly integrates with Workday Global Talent Management to complete the talent cycle and ensure all of your talent, skills and performance gaps are filled.
How does ExpertusONE compare to enterprise "social platforms" like Jive or Mzinga?
ExpertusONE was created by enterprise learning experts. It's designed from its core as a platform that unifies enterprise learning and knowledge sharing. In contrast with "social platforms," ExpertusONE isn't just about social interaction – it's about integrating all forms of learning and information retrieval in an environment that is personal, relevant, and contextually appropriate.
My LMS vendor offers collaboration tools. Can ExpertusONE improve on that?

Our services continue - but primarily as an adjunct to our ExpertusONE software offerings.

How rapidly/easily can ExpertusONE scale with increased demand?
Because this platform is built on a true cloud architecture, it dynamically scales as usage demands fluctuate. No additional database resources or server installations are needed. It doesn't get faster or easier than that!

How configurable is ExpertusONE? Can we choose some features, but not others?
Absolutely. The platform offers unprecedented configurability. Each implementation combines the specific features and functions that best meet the customer's business goals. This flexible design extends all the way to the interface, where the learning environment can be customized for multiple audiences (employees, channel partners, sales teams and so forth).
How difficult is it to fine-tune ExpertusONE for our specific needs?
We want this to be an easy choice for every customer. That's why we configure the platform for your specific needs. It's part of the package.
What if I want to customize it further?
Unlike most learning platforms, ExpertusONE is built on a layered (distributed) architecture. Therefore, you can modify its functionality and interface without jeopardizing the underlying data structure.
What expertise and effort is required to manage ExpertusONE?
Here's a key benefit of our software-as-a-service platform. Customers don't need manpower or expertise to run this system. And, in addition to 24x7 technical reliability, we offer a complete set of managed learning services - from training administration and resource management, to reporting and content optimization. Our goal is to fully support customers on a global scale – in whatever ways they need.
How long does it take to deploy an ExpertusONE solution?
A typical implementation time ranges from four weeks to four months depending on the number and complexity of your integrations and your data and content migration needs.
Do you support multiple languages and geographies?
Yes. The ExpertusONE platform is built on a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) model. Therefore, it can support a global audience, in a broad range of languages and localizations. We even offer real-time text translation, so users can chat with one another across geographical boundaries, using their native language. ExpertusONE supports these 10 languages: Chinese (traditional), Chinese (simplified), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
What level of security and privacy does ExpertusONE offer?
There are several layers of security and privacy provided in the ExpertusONE platform. Users are required to access the site via a secure UN/PW challenge or pass-thru authentication model. The password is stored in an encrypted format. Single sign-on options are provided via CAS and Siteminder out of the box. ExpertusONE also provides support for JAAS, JOSSO, LDAP, Netegrity, Microsoft Exchange and ADFS.
Where does data reside in an ExpertusONE implementation? Who has control?
Data resides in our highly secure, highly redundant, software-as-a-service environment. Within that framework, customers have full access to their data at all times. You maintain control.

How long has ExpertusONE been available?
Early implementations of the platform become available in 2007 under the SmartPortal™ brand. In early 2010, we rebranded SmartPortal as ExpertusONE when we launched the next-generation platform. So while the ExpertusONE brand is fairly new, its platform is proven and established.
What companies are using ExpertusONE?

LEARNER ADOPTION
How easy is it for learners to understand and use ExpertusONE?
Each implementation is configured to fit seamlessly within our customer's business environment. This means that user adoption and satisfaction rates far surpass traditional LMS implementations. In fact, customers have successfully rolled-out ExpertusONE with little or no user training whatsoever.
Do you include user acceptance training and change management?
Yes. We can test usability for any user group to ensure that the interface aligns with learner workflows and expectations.
How do learners gain access to ExpertusONE? Does it work with any web browser?
Yes, convenience is key. Users can gain access to their personalized learning environment through any standards-based web browser, anytime of day or night.
Do learners need to download any plug-ins or applications to use ExpertusONE?
No. We use only industry-standard technologies and plug-ins. No proprietary applications or plug-ins are required.
What is required to support our remote users outside the firewall (customers, contractors or partners)?
ExpertusONE is ideal for organizations with remote users because it's highly available to any authorized user, through any web browser, from anywhere there's an internet connection.
Does ExpertusONE support mobile users?
Yes, in a couple of ways. Mobile platform interfaces are available for smart phone users with push and pull capabilities. Also, we offer mobile widgets to push content dynamically.
How does ExpertusONE address learner privacy and security?
Security is a top priority – we address it at two levels:
• Hosting/Infrastructure
All user data is stored on data servers behind firewalls. Sensitive user information is stored in an encrypted format, and is transmitted via https.
• Product Level
Security is also controlled by granular-level permission which allows role permissions to control what data level objects a person can view/edit/delete. In addition, organizational hierarchy structure prevents unauthorized viewing of user data across groups.
ADMINISTRATION
How difficult is it for LMS administrators to manage ExpertusONE?
Not at all. We configure the platform to work the way your organization does. So, unlike legacy LMS software, both learners and administrators find ExpertusONE easy to understand and to use.
How do you help administrators learn about ExpertusONE?
We provide training and change-management materials. Context-sensitive help is also available within the product's administration interface – as a convenient reference tool.
What kind of ongoing support do you provide to training administrators?
For more than a decade, Expertus has developed and offered comprehensive consulting and global managed services. We understand what it takes to run real-world learning operations successfully. If needed, we're prepared to provide full administrative help and deliver any required supplemental services.
What if we don't have the bandwidth or expertise to administer learning programs in ExpertusONE?
No worries. We're able to administer your learning services programs from end-to-end (or any weak links along the way). This includes content design and development; training marketing and adoption; learning delivery, facilitation and virtual proctoring; user support; and program reporting.
What about content? Do we need to optimize it for ExpertusONE?
The platform supports all standards-compliant learning content (SCORM and AICC). It also manages and supports your informal learning content in any standard format, such as DOC, XLS, PPT, AVI, MP3, and MP4.
Does ExpertusONE provide an easy way to load, update and manage learning content?
Yes. Any content can be easily uploaded and tagged based on attributes and workflows you've established. It can also be configured to your needs for informal learning editing, approval and publishing.
Can our staff generate meaningful reports with ExpertusONE?
Yes – and without the need for 3rd party custom report writing tools! The platform features DIY Reporting™, Reporting-on-the-Go™, user analytics and social analytics – all within the main interface. This gives administrators the ability to generate custom reports and easily access useful course and learner data.

Is it difficult to implement ExpertusONE?
No. The platform's SaaS (software-as-a-service) architecture shields customers from its underlying complexity. Configuring the software is relatively simple and swift, once we clarify your business requirements.
Will ExpertusONE work with our existing IT infrastructure?
Yes. The platform is built to work together with today's enterprise-class systems, technologies and resources – including seamless integration with your HR, performance, CRM and legacy learning management systems.
How much disruption should we expect when adding ExpertusONE to our IT mix?
Little to none. In fact, our customers' IT groups are commonly surprised at the lack of disruption. We've hosted learning platforms for more than 10 years, and we know how to do it really well. In fact, ExpertusONE often streamlines the typical IT hosting structure.
How stable is ExpertusONE?
We guarantee unparalleled stability – because the platform is hosted in a proven, robust cloud infrastructure.
What level of performance and reliability can we count on?
You'll see exceptional performance and reliability. The platform is based on proven n-tier (layered/distributed) architecture, with a cloud infrastructure that is highly redundant and available.
Can ExpertusONE work in concert with our ERP systems?
Yes. Our services oriented architecture connects in real-time with your existing ERP, HRM, performance and knowledge management systems – as well as other systems and resources.
How about integrating with Workday Global Talent Management?
ExpertusONE seamlessly integrates into Workday Human Capital Management through Workday Studio's APIs, web services and open standards. So you'll get a single business process view, real-time data access and insulation from application version changes.
What other hardware and software does ExpertusONE need to work?
No additional hardware or software is required. You don't even need an LMS. And for users? All that's needed is Internet connectivity and a standards-compliant browser.
Is ExpertusONE easy to configure for our company's specific needs?
Absolutely. The platform was architected so that it's configurable for each client's business needs. Whether you require compliance with HR systems or other LMSs - it will work.
How will ExpertusONE grow with us over time?
Because the platform's architecture is inherently flexible, you can quickly and easily change, adapt and add functionality as your needs grow and evolve. This is where ExpertusONE dramatically differs from static legacy platforms.
What about upgrades? Are they automatic?
Yes. Upgrades, patches and releases are all implemented, managed and supported by Expertus. This is documented in our software-as-a-service agreement.

Prior to an ExpertusONE site launch, we provide comprehensive administrative training. After the launch, email and phone support is available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. Our team offers global coverage, with three shifts that serve US, EMEA and APAC time zones.
